Hardcover, red Morocco leather with gold titles. In fair condition, interior in very good condition.
Consisting of 252 pages, including the last 2 of the "levata del sole in Italia e Francia", there are no missing pages.
Inside there are numerous mysterious prints and illustrations of astrology, physiognomy, magic etc. 10 plates outside the text and 19 woodcuts + 2 final ones.
It was printed for the first time in France in 1668, and it had immediately great success for the magical topics that were treated at the limit, for those times, of witchcraft.
Among the many topics covered are:
How to diminish the excess desire caused by the action of Venus on females,
How to turn lead into gold, etc.
